DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS

The department of Finance and Accounts is one of the seven departments of the National Boundary Commission as enshrined in the National Boundary Act of 2006.  The department is the custodian of all funds of the Commission, which are accounted for in the relevant books of accounts documents and records; Responsible for disbursement of appropriate sum of benefiting departments, persons and companies as the case may be.  It also ensures adherence to Financial Regulations, Public Service rules, Government policies and other extant Treasury Circulars.

The department is currently headed by an Acting Director and is ably supported by an Assistant Director, a Chief Accountant, Principal Accountant, Senior Accountant, other Accountants and a number of other Executive Officers (Accounts). The head of the department is regarded as the Financial Adviser to the Director General.  The department has the following Units/Sections through which it carries out its statutory functions: Budget, Salary, Other Charges, Checking, Advances, Special Projects, Central Pay Office, Reconciliation and Final Accounts.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

Ensuring that all allocations received from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation are disbursed timely and are properly utilized as well as accounted for through the use of Project/Programme Accountants as required by the authorities. Collection of Government approved Revenue and remittance of same to appropriate bodies timely.  This is with a view of ensuring that there is transparency and accountability in all our actions.

Providing efficient and effective services to various departments, units, persons and contractors in a timely manner in accordance with due process, extant circulars and Financial Regulations.
